Why don’t automobile companies use rims by default if they are so advantageous?

Rims are provided by the companies only in higher end models. Since they are considered as an additional expense, not everyone is interested to pay extra. These are better termed as additional equipments which companies provide as accessories. Deluxe models have company fitted alloys by default.

How difficult is maintenance of rims?

It depends upon the type of the rim you choose. If you choose chrome plated or you choose corrosion resistant rim, it requires very less maintenance and on the other hand if you prefer the less expensive one which lacks in tensile strength and even non resistant to corrosion, it is obvious that you will have to take extra care of it. It is recommended that they should be cleaned and taken care of irrespective of the type in order to ensure long life.

Are there any insurance scheme/ warranty of these rims?

There are many stores which deal with sales/repairs of rims. Terms and conditions are different for the different stores. Most of these stores even offer lifetime warranty which is eligible for coverage only if the rim has been used only on the vehicle for which it was specially designed. Accidental damage is not covered under this warranty.

What kind of damaged rims are safe to repair?

Slightly bent wheels, wheels having corrosion peel, wheels having cracked or void in the flange area are safe to repair. On the other hand, if there is damage in the diameter or there is damage in the center, they cannot be straightened.

Are loans available for purchasing rims?

Some online dealers provide very nominal finance facilities so that you can easily afford the wheels/rims. A modest installment can be paid with some amount of down payment in order to get loans sanctioned for purchasing rims.
